# Renewing SSL

> Renew your EnrolWeb SSL certificate before it expires to keep HTTPS working, avoid browser warnings, and maintain visitor trust.

SSL certificates expire, usually after 1-2 years. Renewing on time keeps your site secure and avoids the browser warnings that appear the moment a certificate lapses. This guide shows you when and how to renew.

## When to renew

* Certificates issued for 1 year: renew 30 days before expiration
* Certificates issued for 2 years: renew 60 days before expiration
* Enable auto-renewal to skip the manual process entirely

EnrolWeb sends email reminders as your certificate approaches expiration.

## Renew from your dashboard

    Log in at [enrolweb.com](https://enrolweb.com).

  <Step title="Open SSL Certificates">
    Go to **SSL & Security > SSL Certificates**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the expiring certificate">
    Find the certificate approaching expiration and click **Renew**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the renewal period">
    Pick a 1 or 2-year renewal term.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete payment">
    Confirm your payment method and complete checkout.
  </Step>

## Reactivate and revalidate

Renewal creates a new certificate. You'll need to:

    Create a new CSR on your server (recommended for security).

  <Step title="Submit the CSR">
    Paste it into the renewal activation form.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete domain validation">
    Approve via email, DNS, or HTTP as you did during the initial activation.

  <Step title="Install the renewed certificate">
    Replace the old certificate files with the new ones. See \[Installing SSL]\(/SSL & Website Security/contact-2-2).

## Enable auto-renewal

    Select the certificate in your dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn on auto-renewal">
    Toggle **Auto-Renew** to on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm payment method">
    Ensure a valid payment method is on file.
  </Step>

<Warning>
  Auto-renewal handles billing, but you still need to validate and install the new certificate manually unless your hosting supports full automation.

## What if my certificate expired?

  Pick a 2-year term to reduce how often you renew, and enable auto-renewal to skip billing steps entirely.
