# Domains FAQ

> Answers to common questions about registering, transferring, renewing, and managing domains with EnrolWeb, including WHOIS privacy and DNS.

## Registration

    Most domain registrations are instant. Some TLDs may require additional verification that can take a few hours.

    You need a valid registrant name, email, physical address, and phone number. These must be accurate to comply with ICANN rules.

    Yes. You can register most domains for 1-10 years.

## Transfers

    Unlock the domain at your current registrar, request an authorization (EPP) code, and start the transfer at EnrolWeb. See [Domain Transfers](/Domains/security-2-2).

    Transfers typically complete in 5-7 days.

  <Accordion title="Will my website or email go down during transfer?">
    No, as long as your DNS records stay unchanged. Transfers move the registrar, not the DNS.

## Renewals and expiration

    Check the expiration date in your EnrolWeb dashboard. We also send reminder emails.

  <Accordion title="What happens if my domain expires?">
    You have a 30-day grace period at the normal renewal price. After that, redemption fees apply. After \~75 days, the domain may be released for public registration.

  <Accordion title="Can I enable auto-renewal?">
    Yes. Toggle auto-renewal in your domain settings so you never lose a domain to an expired registration.

## DNS and management

    DNS changes typically take a few minutes to a few hours, sometimes up to 48 hours to fully propagate.

    Yes. In your domain settings, switch from EnrolWeb nameservers to custom ones from any DNS provider.

  <Accordion title="What is WHOIS privacy?">
    WHOIS privacy hides your personal contact info from public WHOIS lookups by replacing it with proxy details. Enable it in your domain settings.
